3D Sports Analytics' motion analysis, powered by Zenolink is a cutting edge tool used to gather research-level information about an individual’s throwing and batting motions simply by videotaping that player in action. We are unique in that we are essentially bringing the lab to you. The athlete does not need to wear cumbersome suits, vests or markers and is filmed in their natural environment. The markers are placed on the athlete in the virtual world, enabling us to create 3D imaging using as few as two cameras.

Zenolink's proprietary software creates an avatar of the athlete and breaks down the 3Dvideo and produces a performance profile. This profile measures how effectively the player utilizes peak speed output – his/her power potential – at the points of release (throwing) and impact (batting). By measuring hip speed, arm speed, shoulder speed, bat release speed and bat linear speed, ZenoLink creates separate analyses of kinetic linking, stability, muscular loading and bat dynamics. These are used to identify functional movement discrepancies that rob the player of power, and predispose them to injuries. This data is used to design a personalized Progressive Skills Training program that corrects the improper functional mechanics.

Unlike other tapes made for rehabilitation, Rocktape was created in the heat of competition. We knew first hand that medical tape would fail under race conditions so we developed a lab in the Santa Cruz mountains where we could test our product until it meet our standards. Rocktape is the one-and-only developer of Power Taping, a method to apply tape to increase performance. While we can’t take a 5-hour marathoner and turn her into a 3-hour runner, we can take a 3-hour runner and help her get to somewhere below the magic 3 hour mark. How? You really have to come to a class and learn but the short answer is core stabilization and proprioception. Core stabilization leads to better diaphragm use and proprioception leads to better form.

Stretching is good. Our research shows that by making our tape with 190% elasticity, we allow the athlete fuller and better range of motion. Our competitors only offer 130-150% stretch. When we wear our competitors tape we feel like we’ve been bound – we don’ believe that’s what anyone wants to feel when you’re walking much less running.

There are always options in life and compromises can be made. When we designed our tape, we wanted superior snap-back which is the ability of the tape to stretch without too much resistance, yet provide assistance to muscles when they return to neutral. To get the right stretch and recovery dynamics and the proper moisture defense we were faced with using a special nylon called 6/12 which is more expensive. Could we have used a cheaper nylon? Sure, but life is short and making the best possible product for you is what we’re all about. We chose not to compromise our standards because neither do you.

One size does not fit all. Imagine if we all tried to wear the same pants. Some of our competitors seem to think we’re all the same size so they conveniently pre-cut their tape to inconvenient lengths expecting us to adjust to their marketing. We think there’s a big difference between a 42 year old Ironman mother of three and a 23 year old elite male tennis player. A difference in size perhaps but identical in attitude and spirit. We think it’s our job to fit you in size and spirit rather than the other way around.
